Cape Town is experiencing a bumper season of comics-related events, with many more happening this week, including two events that you can only catch today. brainwavez.org's handy guide will help you to keep track of what's going on where and when because there's a lot to keep track of!

Workshop: Draw Your Own Superhero, Cape Town
News: Quick South African Comics Events Roundup For March• Wednesday 18 March 2015, 15:15 to 16:30; Rondebosch Library Children's Section, Town Hall, Hall Road, Cape Town

Open Book Festival is facilitating this free workshop with Su Opperman from the CCIBA, in partnership with Rondebosch Library as part of the city's Library Week celebrations. Opperman, along with cartoonist Roberto Millan, hosted this workshop last year during the Open Book Comics Fest in November, as well as in November at Pop The Culture. I attended the Pop The Culture workshop and was soon sucked in and had a lot of fun developing a superhero even though I had only intended to document the workshop as a journalist.

The workshop is suitable for people of all ages and all levels of drawing expertise, including those who would consider themselves "unable" to draw, but is best suited to teenagers.

• Entrance is free but you must book: call 021 689 1100 or email Rondebosch.library [at] capetown.gov.za.

Event: Blown Away By Books Festival At Fish Hoek Library, Cape Town
News: Quick South African Comics Events Roundup For March• Saturday 21 March 2015, 13:00 to 17:00; Fish Hoek Library, Central Circle, Fish Hoek, Cape Town

More Library Week events are happening at the other end of the Southern Peninsula: Fish Hoek Library, Ocean View Library, Masiphumelele Library, and Simon's Town Library are hosting a book festival from 18 to 21 March, aptly titled Blown Away By Books (anyone who's spent any time in Cape Town will know that the wind can literally knock you off your feet!).

Particularly of interest to local-comics fans are the comics and cosplay events on 21 March at Fish Hoek Library. Local comics creators, including kEda Gomes, Ben Winfield, Jarred Cramer, Vincent Sammy, and Shameema Dharsey, will be showcasing and selling their work in the library and Readers Den Comic Shop will also be there to support the event.

A cosplay event will also be taking place at the same time, facilitated by Cosplay Cape Town.

• Entrance is free and you can view the entire Fish Hoek Library programme here.
