Due to the success of last year's inaugural FanCon Cape Town Comic Con the convention has been extended to three days and a bigger venue for 2017. FanCon will feature comics, tabletop gaming, cosplay, panel discussions, and an artists' alley, as well as local and international guests.

Convention: FanCon Cape Town Comic Con

The guests are:

• Lauren Beukes and Dale Halvorsen: The writing team of Beukes and Halvorsen will be reminding everyone that you don't have to be able to draw (although Halvorsen can - quite well) to have a career in international comics. They will be fresh off the launch of the 40th anniversary edition of 2000 AD for which they wrote a story that was illustrated by Judge Dredd co-creator Carlos Ezquerra.

• Laura Braga: Braga is an Italian comic artist who has worked for DC, Marvel, and Top Cow on titles such as DC Comics Bombshells, Punisher, and Witchblade.

• Calssara: Calssara is a cosplay artist from Germany with a huge international following.

• Matt Hawkins: Hawkins is the president and COO of Top Cow Productions, as well as a comics creator. He will be conducting portfolio reviews during the convention, which will be a rare opportunity for aspiring artists to have their work assessed by an international professional.

• Sean Izaakse: Izaakse, who will be flying down from Johannesburg for the convention, is the co-creator of Stray and has been having a superb year as a roving artist on a number of Marvel titles, including Deadpool, Thunderbolts, Avengers #1.MU, and Avengers 5.1.

• Kinpatsu Cosplay: Tayla Barter/Kinpatsu Cosplay is a cosplay artist from Johannesburg.

• John Layman: Layman, who is from the US, is the writer behind the best-selling 60-issue Eisner and Harvey award-winning series Chew, which is drawn by Rob Guillory. It's the story of a detective who gets psychic impressions when he eats food, people, dead animals....

• Warren Louw: Louw is a South African illustrator who has produced pin-up covers for Darkstalkers and Power Girl, as well as concept art for Namco Bandai.

• Ron Marz: Marz is a prolific creator who has worked on high-profile titles such as Witchblade, Batman/Aliens, DV vs. Marvel, and Star Wars. His work on Green Lantern #54 in 1994 unintentionally resulted in the Women In Refrigerators trope gaining a name based on his storyline, which brought it more prominently into academic, comics, and pop-culture discussion.

• Jason Masters: Masters, who is also flying down from Johannesburg for the convention, is the artist behind 12 issues of James Bond, which were written by Warren Ellis. He has also worked on popular titles by DC and Marvel, including Batman Incorporated, Guardians Of The Galaxy, and Nightwing.

• Loyiso Mkize: Mkize is the creator of South African superhero comic Kwezi.

• Eric Powell: Powell, who is from the US, is best known as the creator of The Goon, a zombie-filled supernatural comedy-horror crime series that's won five Eisner Awards.

• Somto Ajuluchuckwu and Mike Kayode from Vortex Inc: Vortex Inc is a content company that is based in Nigeria and creates comics and cartoons. Ajuluchuckwu is the founder, creative director, and CEO of Vortex Inc and Kayode is the head of operations and animation.
