Afrikaans graphic novel Bal-Oog & Brommel: Moord In Ixiastraat has been adapted by Sjaka S Septembir, one of the graphic novel's original creators, as a stage play starring De Klerk Oelofse and Richard September, with Gertjie Besselsen.

Theatre: Bal-Oog En Brommel: Moord In Ixiastraat, Potchefstroom

The play has been touring South Africa and will be heading to the Aardklop festival in Potchefstroom for five performances at The High School For Girls Potchefstroom before it moves to Cape Town for a second run at Alexander Upstairs.

The production is fantastic and you can read my review from its first run at Alexander Upstairs earlier this year to see why I think so. The graphic novel has been ingeniously recreated on stage by two gifted performers under the direction of Gideon Lombard and it's really worth seeing even if you don't understand Afrikaans.

You'll get the most out of it if you've already read the graphic novel but, even if you haven't, you'll still have a good time (and it's likely that copies will be available for sale at the venue before and after the show so get one and get up to speed).
