Turn your favourite (male) superhero or super villain on (or off) with a one-of-a-kind light switch. That's about all we're going to say as an introduction. (This post is not suitable for people with taste. Don't say we didn't warn you.)

Here's a little bit of silly for a Monday morning that will delight the reduce/reuse/recycle evangelists and horrify most geeks. Matt Knannlein, an illustrator and graphic designer from Seattle in the US, creates light-switch plates featuring comic-book characters posed in such as way that the light switch is rather strategically placed for maximum on/off juvenile amusement.

The images are repurposed from 80s comic-book covers and pages ("Blasphemy!" I imagine you might exclaim - I certainly did) and are applied to the light-switch plate with spray adhesive before being coated with clear, satin polyurethane. As you can see in the photos, great care has been taken to round the corners and create edges that are as seamless as possible.

Currently on offer in Matt's Etsy shop are Captain America, Galactus, G'nort (a member of the Green Lantern Corps), Unicorn (Milos Masaryk), and Kangaroo (Frank Oliver).

Plus, if you're looking for a bargain, Red Ghost, Sentry, Black Panther, Sasquatch, ROM, Ronan the Accuser, and Psycho-Man are on sale at 25% off.

Due to the (scarce?) nature of the source materials all the light switches are unique, so once they've been sold, that's it. (In other words... you know... if you want one for your underground geek lair, don't wait.)

If you have time, it's also worth browsing through the rest of the items in Matt's Etsy shop as he makes other interesting(/blasphemous) products from comic art, including magnets (here's Thor, Spider-man, and Cyclops) and blank greeting cards (examples: Fantastic Four and Thing).

I've exercised restraint but, if you feel so inclined, you're welcome to post tasteful bawdy thoughts in the comments below.
