Gear: Weta Workshop Mini Epics Xenomorph Exclusive Limited Edition Vinyl Figure

Before its original Xenomorph from its Mini Epics line has even been released, Weta Workshop has announced a limited edition variant of the design that will be an exclusive for this year's San Diego Comic-Con.

On Alien Day (26 April) I highlighted a new vinyl figure in Weta Workshop's Mini Epics line, a series of stylised figures from prominent science-fiction film, television, and gaming franchises. The figure was a black Xenomorph, which is still in a pre-release phase (it's expected later this month or sometime next month), that was based on the alien in Alien and it was principally sculpted by Mauro Santini.

Weta Workshop has now announced a limited-edition version of this figurine that is an exclusive for this year's San Diego Comic-Con. The new version features a pale exoskeleton, which really brings out the sculpting details in the design, but otherwise is very similar to the original bar one very cool change to the head - a protruding inner jaw.

(Once again, these images are based on a pre-production prototype so minor changes might still be applied to the final product.)

It hasn't been stated on the product page but presumably the new figurine features roughly the same dimensions and weight as the original: nine centimetres wide, 18.5 centimetres tall, and 9.5 centimetres deep (3.66x7.28x3.74" (WxHxD)), with a weight of 200 grams (half a pound).

The Weta Workshop Mini Epics Xenomorph Exclusive will be available from Wednesday, 17 July 2019 at 17:30 PDT (Tuesday, 18 July 2019 at 00:30 UTC+0/GMT and Tuesday, 18 July 2019 at 02:30 UTC+2/CAT) during the San Diego Comic-Con preview night. According to the release announcement 500 will be available at Weta Workshop's booth at the convention, with 750 being made available for online purchase through the Weta Workshop web site, while the figurine's store page says that only 500 will be made available online.

Either way it's very limited edition but yet is being offered at the same price as the original Weta Workshop Mini Epics Xenomorph - US$29.99 - which makes it a bargain-priced must-have collectible for fans of the Alien Anthology franchise or the Mini Epics line. You'll just have to be quick to snap one up.
