South Africa Woolworths Café, Cavendish Square, Claremont, Cape Town, South Africa: Cappuccino
Woolworths Café, Cavendish Square, Claremont: CappuccinoAccording to the Beatles, "money can't buy me love". I'm afraid money can't buy a decent cup of coffee, either - at least, not at the Woolies café in Cavendish Square, it can't.

This is the kind of place you go to if you want to discuss the results of the gymkhana with fellow members of the suburban SUV squad. The actual quality of the fare on offer is almost irrelevant - as long as it's priced at an appropriate level to imply quality.

South Africa Opinion
Size: Tall - somewhere between 200ml and 250ml, which is the usual size of a "normal" cappuccino elsewhere. [5/10]
Foam: About an inch or so. Creamy and fluffy with a tiny sprinkling of chocolate powder, but much too thick for my taste. [5/10]
Heat: Hot, but drinkable. [7/10]
Coffee: Reasonable, but unexceptional. It was a light-brown colour, with a suspicious lack of residue, and was indistinguishable from instant coffee. Hmm.... [4/10]
Price: R14* [?]. [3/10]
Overall: Bland and overpriced. [5/10]
When: 22 November 2006
Other Options Available:
Short (R12* [?], and very short - about the size of a cup of tea) and Grande.
